Driver Safety for
Back to School
• Drive the Speed limit in school
zones. Go slow. Pay attention to
crossing guards.
• Be aware that children are walking
to school and can dart out at
anytime.  Be attentive. Children
may run out into streets heading
home or to the playground without
realizing that there are drivers
nearby.
• Never pass a school bus when its
stop sign is out.
It is illegal to pass on the right side
of the bus, where children are
loading or unloading.
• The recommended distance
following a school bus is at least 20
feet or at least one car length.
• When a school bus stops and
displays its red flashing lights,
come to a stop until the lights are
no longer flashing or until signaled
to proceed by the bus driver.
San Carlos Apache Tribe Plate -
A new San Carlos Apache Tribe
license plate became available
March 18, 2007. No special
requirements. Available to
everyone. The fee is $25 initial
application fee and $25 annual
renewal, in addition to regular
registration fees. $17 goes to the
San Carlos Apache Tribe
Transportation Board.

Also available with a disability
symbol. May be personalized for
an additional $25 initial
application and annual renewal
fee.
